The Digg gadget revisited

It's been a while since my first shot at bringing Digg.com to the desktop.

A lot has changed in the fast-moving technological landscape, and both Digg.com and Google Desktop have taken big steps forward. While the Google Desktop API introduced a ton of new features, Digg started providing an API of its own. (Before, Digg had only offered RSS feeds.) So it was only natural that I would revisit the Digg gadget and create its successor, 2digg.

Among the notable changes: You can resize the gadget, directly watch YouTube videos, and have a sleeker browsing experience via a multilevel menu. Don't hesitate to look inside the gadget and check out how I implemented the menu using two listbox elements. The YouTube videos and the multilevel menu are just two examples of what could not have been achieved years ago in the old gadget.

Last but not least, the first thing you will notice is the new design by Fernando Lins. They say a picture is worth more than a thousand words, so I am going to show you a video.
